Transformer Testing Services

When a transformer fails, it’s a massive let-down, considering the severe consequences on operating costs and labour. However, most failures can be prevented, if steps are taken in advance, which also helps maximize its lifespan. Our TransCARE® program can help assess the health of your transformer and predict faults well in advance.

Transformers are amongst the most critical assets of the electrical network, being responsible for the incoming power as well as distributing the same. Their safe and reliable operation is essential. The best way to ensure this is to use transformer testing services that combine several diagnostic techniques to assess their condition.

TransCARE®

Transformer Condition and Reliability Evaluation Program

Our TransCARE® program is designed to assess the health of your transformer and predict potential faults well in advance, allowing you to take corrective action before a failure occurs. It is a comprehensive diagnostic procedure merging our knowledge from testing 1,000+ transformers of up to 250 MVA with all relevant IEC, IEEE and ISO standards.

Why choose TransCARE®?

TransCARE® can predict practically any electrical or mechanical fault well in advance. It offers several USPs like
Safe operational period for a transformer is specified
Incipient defects are identified, along with their severity
Corrective actions are recommended and can be planned in advance
Healthy transformers are identified so that unnecessary overhauls are avoided
All tests and results are in accordance with relevant standards

TransCARE® can detect all
possible failure modes in transformers like

What is the process of deploying TransCARE®?

For Power
Transformers

On-Line TransCARE® and Off-Line TransCARE® Level I are performed.

Off-Line TransCARE® Level II is performed for baseline purposes.

On-Line TransCARE® and Off-Line TransCARE® Level I are repeated based on the safe operational period specified.

In case of any abnormality observed above or if DGA results are abnormal), specific tests from Off-Line TransCARE® Level II are performed to investigate the fault condition.

For Distribution
Transformers/CTs/CVTs

Off-Line TransCARE® Level I is performed.

The same is repeated based on the safe operational period specified.

Perform DFRA if tan delta is poor.

Perform PD test if DGA shows high levels of hydrogen or acetylene.
