Motor Testing Services

Can motor failures be prevented? The answer is yes. However, instead of time-based maintenance that leads to unnecessary outage/expenditure, we recommend condition-based maintenance adhering to international standards so that your business is uninterrupted. Moreover, motor life cycle can also be maximized if you adopt a systematic approach, like MOTOCARE®.

Motors are critical assets of the electrical network, being responsible for driving all rotating and reciprocating machines. Their safe, reliable & efficient operation is essential. Due to their dynamic nature, they are much more prone to failures than static equipment. The best way to prevent such failures and maximize their efficiency is to use motor testing services that combine several diagnostic techniques to assess their condition.

MotoCARE®

Motor Condition and Reliability Evaluation Program

MOTOCARE® is a comprehensive diagnostic procedure merging our knowledge from testing 30,000+ motors and overhauling 2,000+ motors (up to 20 MW) with all relevant CIGRE, IEC, IEEE & ISO standards.

Why choose MotoCARE®?

MotoCARE® can predict practically any electrical or mechanical fault well in advance. It offers several USPs like
Safe operational period for a motor is specified
Incipient defects are identified, along with an assessment of their severity
Corrective actions are recommended and can be planned in advance
Healthy motors are identified so that unnecessary overhauls are avoided
All tests and results are in accordance with relevant standards
Residual life can be estimated when MOTOCARE® is used in combination with motor history and operational data

MotoCARE® can detect all possible failure modes in motors like

On-Line MotoCARE®

Rotor bar degradation

Eccentricity

Stator core degradation

Interturn shorts

Harmonic distortion

Bearing degradation

Mechanical faults

Lubrication problems

Improper cooling

Off-Line MotoCARE®

Moisture ingress

Contamination

Overall insulation aging

Localized insulation faults

Interturn degradation

Corona

Loose coils

Stator core degradation

Lack of mechanical bracing in overhang

Internal physical damage

Key technologies used in MotoCARE®

On-Line MotoCARE®

Electrical Signature Analysis

What is the process
of deploying MotoCARE®?

What is the process of deploying MotoCARE®?

On-Line MotoCARE® is performed during routine operations.

Off-Line MotoCARE® Level I is performed during a planned outage.

On-Line MotoCARE® and Off-Line MotoCARE® Level I are repeated based on the safe operational period specified.

If motor is in disassembled condition, the following are performed:

Visual Inspection and Flux Loop Test

Wedge Tightness Test if motor has resin-rich type of insulation

Natural Frequency Test for large motors (over 5 MW)

Corona Probe Test if PD and/or PDCA results are poor
