Motor Circuit Analyzers

Motor Circuit Analysis (MCATM), also called motor circuit evaluation (MCE), is a deenergized test method for evaluating the health of a motor. Initiated from the Motor Control Center (MCC) or directly at the motor itself, this procedure evaluates the entire electrical portion of the motor system, including the connections and cables between the test point and motor. MCA is capable of detecting ground faults, internal winding faults, open connections, rotor faults and contamination.

AT-Motor Genie (by All Test Pro, USA)

The AT-7TM is the most comprehensive off-line motor tester in the market, capable of measuring resistance, inductance, impedance, tan delta, capacitance, insulation resistance and performing the patented Stator and Rotor Signatures™. It can test any AC & DC motor type, and evaluate the electrical health by assessing their stator windings, rotors, cables and other components.

Key features of the AT-7TM include on-screen step-by-step testing instructions, data storage, route capability and testing motors through hundreds of metres of cable. It can easily detect even the smallest imbalances in any motor — long before your motors fail as a result of preventable problems.

The AT-34 TM is a mid-range off-line motor tester that includes many of the features of the flagship AT-7 model. It can diagnose ground faults, test stator windings, find induction motor abnormalities and display results all on the screen within minutes.

It enables technicians to efficiently and accurately evaluate motors whether in the field or on the shop floor – improving motor reliability, increasing technician and asset productivity, and reducing energy consumption.

The MOTOR GENIE® is an entry-level hand-held motor tester that uses patented technology to troubleshoot low-voltage AC induction motors rated less than 1000 V. It is capable of finding winding faults, including coil-to-coil, turn-to-turn and grounded windings. It also measures impedance, phase angle, current/frequency response, phase to phase resistance and insulation-to-ground resistance.

With its advanced features, the MOTOR GENIE® outperforms other traditional meters such as the Megohmmeter, RCL meters and other resistance meters, that only take measurements. It goes beyond measurement capabilities and analyzes the condition of the motor. These conditions are sent to the associated mobile app on the user’s phone or tablet.

LIRA Acquire

LIRA Digital

The Acquire is a portable, offline analyzer that uses LIRA technology to diagnose cable condition. It can detect localized defects, overall aging and termination degradation. The LIRA Acquire has a proven track record of testing cables over 100 kms. in length; and has the added benefit of being completely non-destructive (the applied voltage is less than 10 volts) and does not require the cable to be disconnected.

The types of localized defects that it can diagnose include mechanical damage, mechanical stress, water ingress and heat induced oxidation, with an accuracy of better than ± 1 %. LIRA Acquire is widely used for factory quality control, site acceptance testing after laying new cables, condition monitoring of older cables and fault location in failed cables.

Wirescan Digital (WD) is a proprietary automated cloud-based cable monitoring solution. Specialized sensors are permanently installed on cables (up to 33 kV). These, in conjunction with the LIRA data acquisition system send the data to the WD cloud platform, which analyses the data and presents the results in a user-friendly visualization platform on your computer or tablet.

The system is designed to incorporate historical data (if available), reference/benchmark data and any future data for continuous health assessment, comparison, trending, etc. WD uses GPS coordinates and geographic locations for easy pinpointing and visualization, and is an open platform that can also incorporate other measurements such as tan delta, PD, optical TDR, DTS, etc. to provide solid decision support in assessing whether to keep, repair, replace or monitor your cables. Even if a cable should fail for some reason, rapid fault localization and the comprehensive information available will minimize the downtime.

Generator Rotor Shorted Turn Analyzer

Shorted turns in generator rotor windings can contribute to vibration problems due to rotor thermal bending from the uneven heating associated with non-symmetrical dc current flow and watt losses in faulted windings. Shorted turns can also cause unbalanced magnetic flux in the air gap that  aggravates vibration problems. Such defects can be easily detected by the Sumatron RSO Analyzer.
